Mecha - Enforcer by ModalMechanica Mecha - Enforcer by ModalMechanica
Been meaning to finish this one for awhile. This one was done completely in photoshop, no scanned line work for once.

Its smaller than the others, more like an exo-suit. The pilots arms are exposed, Hopefully you can make it out haha.

Uhm its intended primarily for law enforcement, riot control, highway patrol lol. Stuff like that. Its claws are extendable and retractable, and weapons on the arms can be switched out between lethal, non-lethal, and teargas canisters or such.

I'm pretty tired, so thats it for nooow~

This stood out at me right away when I saw this in my deviations messages. The shapes and overall form are simply amazing.

Everything, from the wheels on the feet to the bristling weaponry on the arms, to the heads-up display in front of, well, the head...everything is so striking and really leaves a lasting impression.

There are a couple things I would've done differently though. For one thing it's only in black and white. While this makes for very stark and interesting visuals, I would've loved to see this in color. Also the robot's hands look a little bit strange, assuming they are the tiny claw things below the cannons. Putting tiny hands below the cannons kinda looks awkward to me.

Another more technical design flaw may be the pilot's exposed arms. I'm not sure why you wanted them to be exposed but it may pose a tactical problem in battle.

Everything else, however, is amazing. I just love the torso design, and all its minute details, including the tiny X indent on the tip of the torso armor. Art like this is a rarity on deviantART, which makes it even more valuable!

Love the gun hands! Conceptually "if" we EVER end up with a militarized mech the primary job will be SHOOTING things, not kung fu fighting... Sure you'd need some manipulators/grasping claws, but the huge hands seen on most mechs are kinda silly...

Props on what seems to me as many original concepts in your design. My constructive criticism, would be larger wheels and maybe a front balancing "claw". And then I love the HUD, and the open air but not sure it's very practical if your in a world where you might be facing other mechs, or just anti-mech/armor weapons. I think this design could use bisected clam shell armor that swings up like Lamborghini doors and fold while still giving side/back protection. And then the open air HUD would be the scout/mobile/patrol mode. But when things got to fighting the armor would close up and protect the occupant.

Awesome design! :)

Yeah I get what you're saying. The main intention of this mech however, is for domestic protection. In other words, for police/riot control. Not full on warfighting.

Awsome design. I like the exposed arms and small size, it has a very near future vibe. Do the arms work as a slave/master system or does the pilot just issue commands with the joysticks?

I think it's fine except for below the waist and the belts connecting the shoulders to the arms.
You need to put in more detail in the defining lines so that it matches the top half.
I can see the pilots legs, and I like the whole human interface being visible.
THe shadow also needs to be more defined, you're subtracting from the overall detailed and defined mystique.

As for the claws and the HUI, I think that is done well. It's part of the style, and therefore you can see it working out for the machinery.
Maybe this was a machine designed without a handshake in mind? Maybe the claws are enough to defuse any bomb and open any door, strong enough to lift anything--why put on bigger hands?

Haha yeah, the difference your seeing, is mainly because I did the bottom half nearly two months later.

Thanks for the input, I need to get better at shadows actualy

Yeah, thats all very sound input. The feet can could be more practical, hands too, and the pilot is definitely under protected. I'd probably add different variants, a version with more possible arms that can hold like a shield or something maybe

I like it!

I agree about the wheels too, I think they should be bigger, furthermore perhaps there could be some sort of alternate transport like fold down feet. I'm guessing this suit would have to go through various terrains and those tiny wheels could get stuck in something like a cattle grid.
Also the hands I think would look better if they where bigger and perhaps mimicked hands? If this where to be used in combat perhaps the users arms should be protected in some way.

Other than that it's certainly an original design, I can't really draw mech and robot style things so I think this is very interesting indeed.

Looks quite awesome, though the only thing that gets me is the tiiiny single wheel feet. Even if the mech is relying on the pilot's sense of balance, I think another pair of small wheels even if they don't receive any power would make the suit look more stable.

I am also not completely sure if there is enough space for the pilot's forelegs, the joint that they are housed in looks either too short, or the space inside where the leg goes it taken up by the joint. I am not sure how I would change the legs, maybe make the thigh's longer so there is space for the pilot's legs, or more the joint to the left or right, so it's on the outside of the mech's thigh

And with that criticizes, you are still much better at machines than I. :)

Thanks a lot for the input. Yeah, the legs were giving me problems. I was thinking of just having them bent, and like placed behind the mech's thighs or something idk.

this isn't not only a great drawing but an exceptional inspiration... i mean it show how for real mechs must be done... small and used as heavy infantry...

a drawing of a real PRO !
